Twist on an old favourite

 - Published:  01 August, 2006

A farm-shop operator is hoping for success with a new twist on a traditional delicacy.

Fidget pie is a favourite in Shropshire and now Helen and Martin Rowley of Buttercross Farm near Market Drayton have made the first fidget sausage.

Handmade using their own free-range pork, minced dry-cured bacon, apple, sage, parsley, seasoning and sometimes a dash of cider, the new sausage has been entered into The Great Taste Awards and is being sold in the Buttercross Farm Shop. The Brunning & Price chain of restaurants is also being supplied with fidget sausages.

n Buttercross Farm will hold an Open Day on 26 August
