Defra lifts temporary control zone

 - Published:  16 October, 2007

Defra has lifted the 3km temporary control zone which was put in place yesterday (15 October) in East Sussex.

The control zone was imposed around a premises in Rye after sheep started displaying possible signs of the FMD. Defra made the decision to lift the measures today after preliminary tests on the animals came back negative for the disease.

Animal keepers are urged to remain vigilant for disease, check their animals twice a day and report any suspicions immediately.
