A leading poultry breeder has appointed a new manager to its Scotland office, to work with local planning teams.

Les Miles is to become Aviagen's European planning manager, based in Edinburgh, where he will co-ordinate sales and production volume to meet customers' requirements.

European operations president Val Mendeleev said: "With the continued expansion of our operations in Europe, the position of European planning manager has become very important and I am confident Les will prove very effective in this role. His appointment, coupled with other recent appointments, highlights the importance of Europe in Aviagen's strategic growth programme."

Miles has experience in procurement, sales, logistics, planning and general management and a background in the poultry feed, food and commodities sectors.

Further appointments at Aviagen have also been announced, with Graeme Dear, who has a background in the fish farming industry, becoming general manager.

Dear said: "With my background in fish production, it is clear that there are many parallels between the poultry and aquaculture industries and I am confident that my experience and knowledge will add value to the Aviagen team."
