Placing a bet?

The Perche Creek Yacht club in Boone County, USA, has come up with a unique way to raise money for the Central Missouri Food Bank, which distributes food to 33 mid-Missouri counties.

The Cow Patty Bingo event is an annual occasion, offering beer, socialising and the chance to bet on a cow dropping a pat on a winning square.

Bingo patrons can place a $10 or $5 wager on one of 100 squares outlined inside a holding pen. There are three or four boards and each one brings in $500-$1,000.

If a cow leaves a chip on a square, the better receives either $200 or $100 and the remaining $800 or $400 is donated to the food bank. This year, the event raised about $3,000 for the cause.

"I think the curious thing about it is what the event is," Gene Baumann, commodore in the yacht club, told local press. "People stand around and wait for cows to do their thing - that is as bizarre an event as you can get."
