Food and drink companies in the West Midlands can now gain access to a free, online market research service called Food Insights.

Food and drink companies in the West Midlands can now gain access to a free, online market research service called Food Insights, designed to give a competitive edge to businesses through the sharing of industry reports, analysis and statistics.

The service is funded by the West Midlands Food Partnership and can be located at the recently revamped Heart of England fine foods (HEFF) business website through the link www.heff.co.uk/foodinsights

The website enables businesses to access information on food safety, packaging guidelines, shopper buying habits and targeted market research. Food Insights is regularly monitored and populated with data from the national consumer research specialists Mintel.

Food Insights is managed by Stacey Hampton. She said: "The content will include Mintel marketing report summaries, consumer insights and news and data on the latest scientific and technical issues.

"I am also in close contact with universities and research bodies such as the Campden and Chorleywood Research Group and will receive frequent updates on their work focusing on food and packaging technologies. My aim is to have a fully populated site completed by 17 May, when we will be actively promoting Food Insights to delegates at HEFF's major annual trade event, FIND."
