Thirty-one food and drink companies scooped the cream of all Welsh awards on 23 November at the True Taste Wales Food & Drink Awards.

Over 200 companies entered this year's awards, which recognise quality, innovation and excellence in the Welsh food and drink industry, in the hope of being honoured with a coveted title.

The meat industry was well represented, with winners including Rob Rattray butchers who won Gold in the True Taste Small Manufacturer category and Llwynhelyg farm shop, which won Gold in the True Taste Retailer category.

Now in their fifth year, the Welsh Assembly Government managed awards are among the most prestigious and sought after accolades in the industry, a fact reflected in this year's record number of entries.

Minister for Environment, Planning and Countryside, Carwyn Jones AM, said "The food and drink industry is a vital part of the Welsh economy and has a great deal to be proud of - the True Taste Awards recognise this.

The glittering awards ceremony, which was filmed by ITV Wales for 'The Food Show', was hosted by ITV Wales presenter Hywel James and Daloni Metcalfe, from S4C's 'Ffermio', before an audience of 450. Entertainment was provided by West End performers and Jeff Hooper and his band.
