Bodycote expands

 - Published:  21 July, 2006

Bodycote Testing, a leading provider of material testing services, has strengthened its food and consumer products division with the acquisition of a fourth company, Norpath Laboratories, based in County Durham.

The move follows a number of previous acquisitions by Bodycote, which began in 2005 with Law Laboratories and Allied

Laboratories, followed by Tetra Laboratories earlier this year.

Founded in 1987, Norpath was one of the first independent analytical laboratories to be accredited by UKAS. The company now employs 20 staff and provides analytical research and consul-tancy services to a range of clients, from small producers to blue chip manufacturers and major retailers throughout the UK and Europe.

David Clapperton, Bodycote's health science managing director, said: "Today's food and consumer goods industries are changing fast and developing globally and Bodycote is building the platform for the international development of the food and consumer products business unit. The acquisition of Norpath means we are able to offer our customers more services and resources as part of an expanding UK network."
