MTJ/MPN merger: more for trade
Meat Trades Journal, published by William Reed and Meat &
Poultry News, operated by Yandell Media, have merged.
At a time of considerable change and consolidation within the industry, the merger of these media businesses means that the individual strengths of each of the titles can be incorporated into the new look Meat Trades Journal and the newly launched sister monthly, MTJ Extra.
The successful development of www.meatmag.com will also add reader traffic to a new website - www.meatinfo.co.uk - which will be launched in August.
Meatmag.com will continue to run until the new site goes live and will then be incorporated into the new website.
The MPN awards will be run under licence by Yandell Media until December, before
reverting to William Reed.
MPN editor, Nicci Piggott, has transferred to the Meat Trades Journal editorial team and will play a full part in the development of the titles.
William Reed Publishing managing director, Charles Reed, said: "The Yandell Media portfolio is a good business and has great synergies with Meat Trades Journal and we are delighted at this merger and the focus that it will bring. It will allow us to provide the industry with one point of contact and give Meat Trades Journal a stronger voice on behalf of the sector and its readership."
Graham Yandell, managing
director of Yandell Media, said:
"I am confident that everyone can look forward to working with a team of committed people who will be producing a quality media that meets the needs of a modernising industry.
"This is the right strategy for the UK meat sector," he added.
