Police and Immigration officers have swooped on a Birmingham meat processing plant and arrested a number of workers on suspicion of working illegally.

The raid on the Russell Hume meat processing factory in Great Barr followed a tip off to theauthorities.
According to the Immigration Agency eight Jamaicans and one Iranian were detained.
Among the group were five women and four men. Two of them were failed asylum seekers and the remainder had overstayed their visas meaning that they were not allowed to work.
It was stressed that management at the Russell Hume plant were unaware of the situation.
