Sausage specialist Cranswick has walked away with the Yorkshire Business Enterprise Award at the Yorkshire Awards ceremony recently.

Crasnwick was chosen from a shortlist for its "outstanding efforts in job creation in the county". The group employs nearly 5,000 workers, the vast majority within the county boundaries. It has expanded both organically and by acquisition and in the year to March 2007 had sales of £525 million.

Chairman Martin Davey said: "We are delighted with this award which is a testimony to everyone who works for the group. We have a dedicated and skilful workforce which has grown as the Company has expanded in recent years".

The Yorkshire Awards were founded in 1989 to recognise those who have had an impact upon Yorkshire and its people demonstrating their affection and commitment to the county.
