West Country taste for sausage range

 - Published:  01 February, 2007

Waitrose and Sainsbury's are the first to launch a new range of sausages which use traditional West Country flavours under the The Black Farmer brand.

Celebrating the best of the region's recipes, the range, produced by Devon based Lloyd Maunder, includes scrumpy cider and bramley apple; pork and stilton; sage and onion; honey and mustard; cracked black pepper, and pork and bacon.

"As the focus moves more and more towards local and regional sourcing, I wanted to showcase the West Country's rich food heritage in my sausages," said Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, aka The Black Farmer.

He added that great flavour was top of the agenda and these sausages stayed true to the company's mantra of flavours without frontiers as well as being gluten free - an increasingly important element of the brand offering.
