Scottish Co-op first to market with Freedom Food Scottish hams
Scottish Co-op is claiming to be the first retailer in Scotland to offer customers own-label Scottish hams, and will also be the first retailer to market with Scottish Freedom Food hams.
All of the Co-op's premium Truly Irresistible Scottish hams will be produced from outdoor-reared Farm Assured Scottish pork, sourced from farms in Strathmore within a few miles of Glamis Castle, and will carry the Freedom Food logo on pack.
Set up by the RSPCA, Freedom Food is the UK's only farm assurance scheme dedicated to improving farm animal welfare.
The Co-operative Truly Irresistible hams are made from specially selected legs of Freedom Food Scottish pork, matured for four days in brine. The range consists of the following products: The Co-operative Truly Irresistible Scottish Cured Ham 100g; The Co-operative Truly Irresistible Scottish Cured Thick Cut Ham 125g; The Co-operative Truly Irresistible Scottish Cured Breaded Ham 100g; The Co-operative Truly Irresistible Scottish Cured Heather Honey Roast Ham 100g; The Co-operative Truly Irresistible Finely Sliced Scottish Cured Heather Honey Roast Ham 100g and The Co-operative Truly Irresistible Scottish Cured Smoked Ham 100g.
