Pork for schools promoted by MP

 - Published:  27 November, 2006

According to a recent BBC report Norfolk MP Richard Bacon has been campaigning for pig farmers to play a more significant part in providing meat for school meals.

The report published at the weekend said the South Norfolk MP had asked schools minister Parmjit Dhanda 'to help pig farmers have a greater say in supplying the meat'. Citing the British Pig Executive's promotion of pork as a nutritious and low fat food, Bacon asked the minister to "spare 30 minutes to discuss how the meat could be used in schools?"
