The spam fritter returns!
Following recent reports of a 70s food revival, Hormel Foods has announced it will bring back one of the greatest British classics, SPAM® Fritters.
The new chilled SPAM® Fritters are oven baked and Hormel Foods believes it will attract new and lapsed consumers to the brand, as it moves into the chilled category for the very first time. Described by the company as "succulent pieces of SPAM® chopped pork and ham, coated in a delicately applied light and crispy golden batter", the fritters can be placed straight in the oven for cooking.
The company has also recently launched SPAM® With Stinky French Garlic and SPAM® With Bacon, which Hormel Foods says offers 'more choice to consumers; appealing to a younger demographic, as well as satisfying the needs of its core market'.
SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham has seen a recent resurgence in popularity, with the brand seeing an increase in sales of over 26% in the last four years.
Rebecca Wilson, European Brand manager of Hormel Foods Europe commented: "It's incredible how many requests we've had from consumers urging Hormel Foods to bring back the SPAM® Fritter. The Development Team at Hormel Foods has strived to produce a delicious Fritter that's oven baked, nutritious and tasty."
