Perthshire Sheep Tested for FMD

 - Published:  13 September, 2007

A sheep from Perthshire is being tested for FMD after displaying symtoms of the disease.

The animal was part of a batch which had been sent to slaughter in the south of England. Officials are also preparing to carry out tests at the Perthshire farm where the sheep originated.

Scotland's chief vet Charles Milne has confirmed that tests were going ahead but stressed that while the animal was showing worrying symptoms, testing was still at an early stage.
