Midlands-based pie company, Wrights Pies, based in Crewe, has unveiled major expansion plans.

Under an aggressive new five year plan, the company says up to 50 new stores could be opened creating up to 200 new jobs.

At present the company, which specialises in pies, sausage rolls and pasties, has production plants and retail shops in Stoke and Crewe employing 360 staff.

Under the expansion plan, more shops would be opened in South Staffordshire and Birmingham.

The increased sales is expected to double production over the five year period. The company will also invest in new plant and machinery. Company chairman Peter Wright said that the expansion plan was being undertaken due to increased demand.

He added: "We are increasing the number of shops because we know there is a market out there for our product range." A family company, Wright's Pies has been in business 80 years.
