Belgian deal for Welsh

 - Published:  25 July, 2007

A Belgian retailer is set to start stocking Welsh lamb.

The deal, announced at the Royal Welsh Show, between Randall Parker Foods and Delhaize in Belgium, will see 500 lambs shipped each week to 134 stores. The move will see Welsh produce replace New Zealand meat, reports claimed.

More than 200 Welsh producers will be supplying the meat under three brands, with Welsh Saltmarsh Lamb being stocked from September to October, Welsh Moutain Lamb from October through to November and Glamorgan Lamb onto January.

The deal was brokered with the help of HCC - Meat Promotion Wales.
