Waitrose promo a winning formula

 - Published:  21 July, 2006

A special promotion of Welsh Lamb in Waitrose stores has proved a big hit with shoppers.

The promotion, to win a mixed case of fine wines in a free draw, ran in 130 of the supermarket's stores and proved so popular that a similar offer is now being considered.

The chance to win one of 100 cases was offered on 22 different lamb product packs. The response proved to be very high, compared with some other promotions.

Waitrose lamb buyer Aaron James said that the supermarket group has been expanding its range of Welsh lamb over the years.

Stewart Pope of HCC said the best competitions were the ones where people stood, what they considered, to be a realistic chance of winning. The six week wine competition had been very popular with nearly half a million pack labels printed.
