Providing a clean sheep

 - Published:  06 January, 2006

Sheep producers are being reminded by the English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX) that they could incur additional costs if animals sent for slaughter are not clean.

EBLEX Regional Development Manager Dr Phil Hadley said producers who did not present clean livestock could incur costs which could be anything from 50p to £1 per sheep.

Livestock Auctioneers Association Chairman Robert Whitelock said: "Producers must remember that cleanliness is important when selling lambs and ewes through livestock markets to make sure the best prices are obtained."
