Beefing up the Christmas fare

 - Published:  18 December, 2006

Traditional turkey could be taking a back seat this Christmas at one farm shop where a double helping of champion beef is on sale.

Keelham Hall Farm Shop in West Yorkshire is offering meat from two winning entries at recent Christmas livestock shows.

The prime beef from the two locally reared champion Limousin-cross animals sold at Craven Cattle Marts Skipton Auction Mart and Otley Wharfedale Farmers markets will be on sale in plenty of time for the festive season, says Victoria Robertshaw, who runs the family-owned farm shop on Brighouse & Denholme Road with her brother James.

"We believe very strongly in selling excellent local produce," says Victoria. "When it comes to beef, you can really taste the difference. We set out to secure the very best beef available in the area for our customers, not just at Christmas, but also at all times of the year.

"The Skipton and Otley Christmas sales happened to be on the same day and we achieved our goal by getting both the champions."

Keelham Hall Farm Shop specialises in selling a wide range of produce from 40 local suppliers including farming its own sheep.
