JBS takes on commercial head
Beef and pork processor JBS has appointed Marcus O'Sullivan as its commercial director for its London office Friboi (UK).
O'Sullivan will be responsible for fresh and frozen beef. He willi will focus on ongoing retail projects with some of the UK's larger retailers. This initiative is underpinned by Friboi Brazil's programme of quality farm assurance and welfare - to the Eurepgap standard - on its selected farms throughout Brazil.
Friboi is one of the largest processors of organic beef, a large growth area for the company.
The JBS Group recently acquired Swift & Co operations in the USA and Australia. JBS Friboi operates 23 plants in Brazil, five plants in Argentina, eight plants in the USA and four plants in Australia.
After 15 years with the Kepak Group, O'Sullivan brings with him management experience from operations in Ireland, Spain, France and the UK. He worked closely with the MLC Lamb Strategy Council throughout the 1990s. In 1999, O'Sullivan was appointed senior trader in Agra Trading, Kepak Group's international trading arm, where he established and managed the company's European trading division. He holds an agricultural science degree from University College Dublin.
