Supplier hopes to bring home the bacon
A bacon producer is celebrating after being named a Welsh finalist in the British Small Business Championship Awards (BSBC).
The Neuadd Fach Baconry, Llandinam, is run by husband and wife Ithyl and Linda Brown, and produces bacon, gammon, and handmade sausages and hamburgers from its own pigs.
The company's products have already won a number of awards, including a Great Taste Award for its bacon.
The BSBC Wales awards take place in Cardiff next week, with six companies competing for the title. The winner will take home £1,000 to be spent to the benefit of their business and go forward to compete against the other five area champions from across the UK, for the title of national champion 2008, with prizes including £10,000.
Carol Undy, head of judging for BSBC 2008, said: "BSBC always attracts a large number of very high-calibre entries and this year was no exception. The judges deliberated long and hard to select the six area finalists for the southern area. They have all done incredibly well to get through and are already champions."
The BSBC was founded by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) in 2002. It is the only national awards scheme solely for small businesses and aims to celebrate and heighten their profile.
