HCC - Meat Promotion Wales is taking to the road with a message for schoolchildren all over Wales - it's Cool2Cook.
Schools in North Wales will be the first to benefit from a series of balanced diet and healthy lifestyle roadshows, which have already visited over 4,000 children in schools throughout the country over the past two years.
The first stop for the Cool2Cook roadshow will be at Dinas Bran School, Llangollen, on Wednesday 18 June 2008 followed by Rhyl High School on Monday 23 June 2008. Ysgol Glan Clwyd Bodelwyddan will be the next stop on Tuesday 24 June 2008 and on to Brynhyfryd Secondary School, Rhuthun on 25 June 2008.
The following week the roadshow will visit Prestatyn High School on Wednesday 2 July 2008 and on to Blaenau Ffestiniog on 9 July 2008.
The roadshows are especially designed for children to ensure that they become aware, as young as possible, of the importance of the food choices they make and become involved in preparing food and enjoying it.
The activities include seven 'zones' that include the Balanced Plate Activity, Snackathon, Fats & Sugars Quiz, The Big Breakfast Game, Food Race Game, Activity Zone and the Tasting Zone.
Elwen Roberts, HCC's consumer executive who runs the Cool2Cook roadshows said: "The roadshows are designed to communicate the message of the importance of eating a balanced diet - and the role lean red meat has to play in that - in a fun and interactive way. By introducing them at a young age to the importance and fun element of food preparation, we are enabling children to make informed choices on what and how they eat in the future."
