EBLEX goes Dutch

 - Published:  03 April, 2008

Going Dutch took on a new meaning this week as a range of premium beef cuts from Yorkshire were unveiled on the Dutch market by EBLEX.

The range, called "Yorkshire's Perfect Steak" was launched at the Kookfabriek food workshop and restaurant of Dutch TV chef Pierre Wind.

The beef originates from selected cattle, specially processed and matured in Yorkshire.

EBLEX export manager Jean-Pierre Garnier said: "The Dutch food scene is evolving fast with a growing number of high class and Michelin starred restaurants.

"We are clearly targeting this range to the top end of the market in order to create added value for British farmers and processors.

"The Netherlands is the single largest market for beef from the UK with exports of 19,606 tonnes in 2007. However, exports of premium quality beef need to be developed further."
