Farmers are hoping for success with goat meat, which they are tipping to be the next big thing with consumers.
Producers are promoting the meat as a healthy, premium delicacy, and are anticipating a surge in demand throughout the UK.
Traditionally, UK consumers have preferred lamb to goat, but with a lower fat content and distinctive flavour, Welsh farmers are banking on goat meat, or chevron, taking off, particularly in the climate following the festive season when consumers are searching for healthier options.
Producers claimed as long as the meat is given the culinary attention and cooking time it deserves, it can rival any meat for flavour.
A number of Welsh farmers, traditionally rearing animals for dairy purposes, are now hoping to tap into the trend and getting value from their herds' male offspring.
