Jobs go to drive efficiency
Pie, pasty and sausage roll manufacturer Palethorpes is to cut 200 jobs to increase competitiveness.
The jobs are to go at the Market Drayton, Shropshire, site as part of an efficiency drive.
Earlier this year owners Northern Foods said it hoped any restructuring would not involve job losses among the 1,000 staff who work on the site. A company spokesperson commented: "We are committed to securing a profitable business at Palethorpes and good progress is being made.
"We greatly regret that we have had to make this announcement regarding proposed job losses and will do everything we can to support those employees affected."
A consultation process with staff is now under way.
