Lofty hopes for farm-shop venture

 - Published:  01 July, 2006

An award winning farm shop is branching into a new area with the opening of a restaurant serving its own meat.

The licensed Hayloft restaurant opens today in a converted barn and is an addition to the Hilltop Farm Shop and Café on Hunningham Hill, just outside Leamington Spa.

Owned by John and Crick Ellis and sister-in-law Maggie Ellis, the restaurant will serve the farmers' own traditionally reared beef and lamb, while the rest of the menu will be sourced locally from suppliers such as Neals Yard, Ram Hall Farm and Church Farm Dairy.

John said: "Following the success of our daytime café, there has been an increasing demand by customers for a more intimate setting where evening meals of the same fine quality are served.

"The Hayloft restaurant will initially be open on Friday and Saturday evenings, providing a welcoming and relaxing ambience in which to enjoy delicious local produce and great service."
