Fire damage
A FIRE has badly damaged a Northamptonshire meat storage and distribution depot, destroying thousands of pounds worth of stock, reports claimed.
Bosses have been forced to close the Baker Group's meat processing warehouse at Crick, near Rugby, for the forseeable future, local papers claim. Investigators are now looking into the possible causes of the blaze which began in the early hours of the morning of 28 May.
Nearly 100 firefighters fought the blaze, which took nearly 12 hours to bring under control. Reports say refrigeration units storing meat products were severely burnt. The group employs 350 staff and offers a storage and distribution facility for meat and other products.
A spokesman for the group said the company would soon have the facility back up and running.
