CELEBRATING A decade in existence this year, National BBQ Week (29 May-4 June) aims to boost Britain's burgeoning barbecue trade even further this year.

Themed Nouveau Barbecue? the organiser National BBQ Promotions, is building on last year's campaign - from Sausage to Swordfish and from Burger to Brochette - by encouraging consumers to upgrade their barbecue experience. Britain's Best BBQ'er competition, run in association with Asda, is in its fourth year and features 10 regional heats at stores across the country throughout June and July before a London final in early August.

Last year's competition attracted 6,500 entries, with housewife Kath Gray, from Hull awarded the title. This year will also feature a BarbiBus Roadshows & Masterclasses, which will involve three buses visiting supermarkets nationwide to conduct barbecue demonstrations and offer samples.
