CMi grabs task for supply-chain scheme
CMI CERTIFICATION has been awarded an exclusive contract to carry out the supply chain audit programme supporting the EBLEX Quality Standard Mark.
The EBLEX Quality Standard Mark - best know following the series of 'Beefy' and 'Lamby' adverts - was developed to promote quality beef and lamb.
EBLEX Quality Standard marked meat has a consistent high quality and is produced exclusively from an independently inspected assured supply chain. There are currently over 2,000 registered EBLEX quality mark beef and lamb suppliers and the scheme is growing rapidly. The audit programme - which will include all processing plants, wholesalers, caterers and butchers registered to the scheme - is designed to ensure that the quality mark product is fully traceable, meets the scheme requirements and ensures customer con?dence in the mark.
David Brackston, CMi processing schemes director, said: "We are delighted to have been chosen for this key role which will further boost customer con?dence in the EBLEX quality mark. "Taken together with our involvement with AIMS in providing assurance to the ABM scheme, plus Beef Labelling and BRC assessments, establishes CMi as a signi?cant service provider to the meat sector," he added.
Phil Davies, QSM scheme manager for EBLEX, said the new auditing contract is initially for two years and takes effect from April 2006. "Auditing is essential to the integrity of our programme and members can rightly be proud of belonging to a scheme with independent and open scrutiny. It enhances their status and is already having an impact on their sales," he said.
CMi Certi?cation is the UK's largest accredited certi?cation body serving the food and farming industries, certifying over 30,000 farms over a wide range of livestock and crop standards and providing BRC, ABM, Wholesale and Distribution and the newly developed ISO 22000 standard in the processing sector.
