THE NEW Danish meat organisation which combines the three major nationa meat industry bodies and house their technical and administrative functions, opens for business April 1.

The merger of Danske Slagterier (DS), the Danish Livestock and Meat Board and the Danish Poultry Council unites the activities of the pigmeat, beef, veal, poultry and egg industries realising cost savings of £2.1million. Christina Hvid, the new managing director for DS and the Danish Meat Association said: "The co-operation of the three industry organisations means we will become stronger."
