Moy Park chair steps down
The chairman of Moy Park has stepped down after more than 30 years with the company.
Dr Trefor Campbell, non-executive chairman and former managing director, is stepping down after completing his role in helping the new md, Nigel Dunlop, settle into his role.
Campell joined Moy Park's former holding company, Moygashel Ltd, straight from school in the early 60s, before being appointed managing director back in 1982.
The change in management follows the recent purchase of Moy Park by the Brazilian Marfrig Group.
Campbell has overseen some significant changes during his tenure. Two years after taking on the md role, he masterminded the management buyout from Moy Park's then owner, Courtauld plc.
Since then, he has seen the company grow from a turnover of £45m, and 1,450 employees mostly in Northern Ireland, to a turnover of more than £700m, and 7,000 employees across NI, England, France and Holland.
Paying tribute to Campbell, Dunlop said: "As we move forward in this ever increasingly global market with our new owner, we do so remembering Trefor's inspired stewardship over these past three decades."
Always with an eye for quality, Campbell's mantra was: "Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten." Companies, food or otherwise, should never sway from this maxim even in these difficult times, he added
