Mackintosh comes on board

 - Published:  07 March, 2008

Alistair Mackintosh has been elected chairman of the NFU's national livestock board.

Mackintosh, who farms sheep and beef cattle at Ravenglass, Cumbria, and had been a member of the livestock board for two years, will serve in the post for two years.

He said: "The livestock sector is facing a number of challenges. It is crucial producers receive enough for their product to enable on-farm reinvestment and ensure a sustainable future. We also need to look at reducing the regulatory burden that we are under, as well as dealing with the cost-sharing agenda and finding a way forward on bovine TB."
