New appointment at LMC

Donna Brock from Irvinestown, Co. Fermanagh, has been working for the association as a benchmarking officer since August 2005.

"I am enthusiastic about my new role within the LMC," said Donna. "I am sure my previous benchmarking experience will work to my advantage, I have already met a lot of farm quality assured farmers and have a grasp of the major issues that surround them and the FQAS scheme.

"FQAS is a requirement from our major market outlets. With this in mind I look forward to developing the scheme further and continuing to increase producer participation."

Donna comes from a strong farming background and has experience of both suckler and sheep farming. She was awarded the John Thompson prize for best overall degree mark while studying Agriculture (BAGR) at Queen's University and received the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society award for the best final year project.

Speaking on her appointment David Rutledge, chief executive of the LMC, said:

"I am delighted with this appointment and believe that Donna's experience will enhance the already excellent mix of skills and experience at the LMC. I am sure that Donna will work to tackle the challenges as we seek to make membership of the scheme as easy as possible for farmers while upholding the standards sought by our major customers."
