McCartney leaves BMPA

 - Published:  25 May, 2007

Maurice McCartney is to leave his post as director of the British Meat Processors Association, the organisation has announced.

McCartney, who will step down from his role on 31 May, said: "I have enjoyed working closely with BMPA members as we successfully addressed some challenging developments over recent years.

"I would especially like to thank the Secretariat team at Cock Lane for their hard work and I wish the team and the association every success in the future."

McCartney joined the association in 2004 as deputy director and was appointed as Director in February 2006.

Gerry Finley, President of the BMPA said "I would like to thank Maurice for his contribution to the association and wish him well in his future career."

McCartney follows on the heels of the departure of deputy director Rosemary Price, who is thought to have left three weeks ago. The BMPA said it was unable to comment on the move.

A spokesperson said the process of recruiting a replacement director would get underway soon.
