Italians praise English beef
Italian chefs think English beef is of "outstanding quality" and have presented the English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX) with a certificate to prove it.
The Certificate of Merit was awarded by L'Associazione Professionale Cuochi Italiani which means EBLEX will in future be able to use their logo on product packs in Italy.
A spokesman for EBLEX said recognition from the 5,000-strong association was expected to boost exports to Italy and would be used in EBLEX's "La Bistecca Perfetta" campaign.
Andrew Garvey, EBLEX head of marketing, said: "This award is quite an honour for our beef and comes at a time when our exporters and EBLEX are working extremely hard to increase exports to Italy.
"The association is constantly working to improve its service to its customers so it is extremely pleasing to see they have shown their appreciation for our high quality beef."
