Steak out - Maurice McCartney

 - Published:  18 August, 2006

Maurice McCartney, director of the British Meat Processors Association (BMPA) recalls the best steak he has eaten to date.

"Despite a year living in Texas, the self-proclaimed home of the steak, the best beef I have ever was in Essex. It was a business dinner at a beautiful restaurant, Le Talbooth, at Dedham in Constable country. Two of us shared a wonderful roasted Chateaubriand, a Scotch fillet. I have a vague recollection of a bottle of red wine that went with it. A cracking meal and restaurant."
