New HCC field officers
LYNFA DAVIES and Mark Needham, have joined Hybu Cig Cymru - Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) as its new field officers.
Davies has been appointed co-ordinator of a new project which aims to demonstrate the practicality and potential of using woodchip as indoor bedding material. It runs until June 2008.
The project is funded through Farming Connect by Objective 1 monies with match funding from the National Assembly, the Forestry Commission Wales and the Environment Agency Wales. It spans two winter housing periods and three development sites - ADAS, Pwllpeiran; IGER, Plas Gogerddan and Glynllifon College. Next winter, the project will expand to 10 demonstration farms that are currently being researched across Wales.
Needham has been appointed technology transfer officer and will work with farmers, assisting with the adoption and implementation of new technology on Welsh farms. He will liaise with demonstration farms, discussion groups and encourage and assist competitiveness and efficiency in the industry.
