Grampian lets another 128 chicken workers go
GRAMPIAN COUNTRY Food Group (GCFG) has made a further 42 chicken factory workers redundant in the face of extreme competition.
The cuts have been effected at the firm's Bucksburn plant in Aberdeen during early June, reducing the workforce on site to around 100. A spokesman confirmed that these latest redundancies were in response to "very strong competition in which imports are playing their part". Citing the same reasons, GCFG recently announced the loss of some 280 jobs across its chicken operations in Banff and Llangefni.
No further cuts in GCFG's chicken buisness workforce are anticipated in the immediate future, the spokesman added.
