Jobs boom as Dawn seizes future
A MAJOR investment of £28m by Dawn Farm Foods in Co. Kildare, Ireland will create 100 new jobs within the company, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment in the Irish Government Micheál Martin, has said.
The investment has gone into the development of a state-of-the-art meat science innovation centre together with significant investment in research and development and additional capital investment.
Employment in Dawn Farm Foods will be increased from 480 to 580 by 2011 and the number of dedicated R & D personnel in the company will double from 15 to 30. Based in Naas, Co. Kildare, Dawn Farm Foods, part of the Queally Group of Companies, was established in 1984 and is a leading manufacturer of fully cooked meat ingredients for sale into the EU.
It also sells cooked meats into the retail sector in Ireland. Larry Murrin, chief executive of Dawn Farm Foods, said: "Our aim is to deepen our penetration into European markets where we are targeting incremental sales in excess of £60m over the next five years. This investment marks the next phase in the growth of Dawn Farm Foods."
