Anne Berryman takes in lead at MNZ Europe

ACTIVITIES IN Europe for Meat and Wool New Zealand will be overseen by Anne Berryman who takes over the role from Gerry Thompson who retires from the post of the company's regional manager for Europe after three years this month.

Berryman, who is currently general manager for trade and market development, Meat and Wool New Zealand, said representing the interests of the New Zealand lamb farmers was fundamental and ensuring the market place was fully understood and that farmers received the best possible returns was vital.

"We have a role in understanding the market and communicating that back to the New Zealand farmers and to make sure that the right activities underpin our position in a strategic way." She said New Zealand Lamb's position with other markets was complementary rather than competitive.

"With UK and New Zealand it's a mutual objective for producers in both countries that we want to see sheep meat consumed." Berryman said she would focus on monitoring consumption in traditional markets as well as seeking new opportunities for newer, younger consumers.
