Cheddar store victory

 - Published:  10 February, 2006

A BUDGENS store in Cheddar has scooped the award for Best Meat Department at Budgen's 'Store of the Year' Awards held near London recently.

In its second year, the Award recognises the best among Musgrave Budgens Londis' (MBL) 80 independently owned Budgens stores and they are becoming highly competitive.

The Cheddar store is owned by husband and wife couple, Philip and Lesley Tout, who also own the Budgens store at Langford. Mr Tout said: "It just proves we must be getting something right."

Martin Hyson, MBL executive director, congratulated the winners. "The Cheddar store's meat offer really is exceptional and we were impressed by all the controls they have in place."

Retailers were judged on hygiene, legality, range, customer satisfaction, display and promotional support.
