Kentucky Fried Chicken fined £13,0000

Kentucky Fried Chicken has been fined nearly £13,000 for selling a customer raw chicken.

The woman sent a sample of the battered "crispy strips" to KFC head office and another to environmental health officers.The incident happened in Plymouth in November 2005.

At the town's magistrates court, KFC pleaded guilty to the Food Safety Act violation . It followed a similar prosecution, also in Plymouth, in 2001. Prosecutor Sharon Day said: "It had been flash fried only."
