Out of date meat products at Morrisons store

 - Published:  13 October, 2006

Trading Standards Officers found 51 meat products past their sell by date in a freezer in a Morrisons store in Cumbria, a court heard.

The company pleaded guilty to breaches of the Food Safety Act at the Barrow store during a hearing before Furness magistrates. A £5,000 fine was imposed.

Items discovered by the TSOs included liver and bacon pate, bacon rashers, pork dripping, turkey and chicken breast. The discoveries were made during a routine investigation.
