German meat suicide
A German meat distributor has committed suicide after 120 tonnes of what has been described by the EU as "putrid meat" was impounded by police.
An investigation was set up by German police following claims that tainted meat was being supplied to kebab stands in the country, while a separate EU enquiry found that some of the impounded meat was four years out of date.
Munich police inspector, Josef Wilfling, commented that he feared a "doner kebab mafia" was responsible for suppling the stands with rotten meat.
