Quality Meat Scotland has launched a new website for consumers wanting to find out how they can make the best of Scotch lamb and beef.

The site www.scotchbeefandlamb.com features guides to buying and preparing meat. It also has the latest recommended cooking times, tips on when to buy meat at its seasonal best as well as information on safe storage and hygiene.

QMS Marketing Manager Suzie Carlaw, who commissioned the new site, said: "People are becoming more technology savvy and more food savvy, so it's important to have a website for this new breed of customer.

"As well as a great selection of recipes, the website also has information about our unique Scottish cattle breeds and traditional rearing methods as well as an insight into the European PGI mark and the assurances it gives to consumers."

She added the website was part of QMS's drive to ensure consumers understand the particular qualities of Scotch branded beef and lamb as well as the guarantees that it's farm to plate assurance scheme offered them in traceability, quality and animal welfare.

QMS has also created www.chefsguidetoscotchbeef.org - an in-depth guide to the sourcing and using of Scotch beef and lamb for chefs and caterers. It offers advice on improving the yield and value of every cut.
