Feed fine appeal fails

for their involvement in an international cartel controlling the choline chloride (vitamin B4) market for animal feed.

Akzo Nobel said it should not have been liable for the participation within the cartel by five subsidiaries.

But the ECJ said: "There is a rebuttable presumption that the parent company exercises decisive influence."

Meanwhile, the court also rejected an appeal by BASF, increasing its fine by Euro 54,000 to Euro 35 million. However, it reduced the fine paid by UCB to Euro 1.8 million from Euro 10.3 million.
