Bulgaria gears up for EU export

 - Published:  09 January, 2007

Inspections are underway in Bulgaria for meat producers wishing to export to EU member states.

From now until 15 January, Bulgarian veterinary authorities will be conducting check-ups in meat processing plants applying for export trade certificates, the country's National Veterinary Medical Service (NVMS) has announced.

This will then be followed by inspection of the approved companies by the EU's Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) from 22 January to 2 February, which will check the companies' implementation of the EU criteria and the controls in place from the NVMS.
