Meat industry heavyweights will gather at the annual conference of the association of independent meat suppliers (AIMS) to discuss the challenges facing the industry, held on 28 October in Bristol.

Speakers include NFU president Peter Kendall, EBLEX chief executive Richard Ali, and chairman of the European food safety authority Patrick Wall.

Talks include "Will meat businesses be regulated to death?". "Cost saving opportunities" and "England - the progressive market for beef and lamb".

A question and answer session with follow the talks with a panel made up of the day's speakers.

AIMS represents the independent sector of the meat processing industry in England and Wales.

Its objective is to emphasise the role of small and medium sized abattoirs to livestock farmers. It also represents butchers and meat distribution companies.

AIMS' members are responsible for around half of the nation's animals, and the association provides its members with a collective voice in order to be effectively represented to the government.
