Science blog from FSA
The Food Standards Agency's chief scientist Dr Andrew Wadge has launched a blog to demonstrate how the latest scientific evidence underpins the Agency's consumer advice and policies.
The Food Standards Agency's (FSA) chief scientist Dr Andrew Wadge has launched a blog to demonstrate how the latest scientific evidence underpins the Agency's consumer advice and policies.
The blog is accessible at: food.gov.uk/scienceblog and is aimed at stakeholders, including the general public, fellow scientists, food industry and enforcement professionals.
Wadge hopes the blog will show the importance of robust scientific research, and how it's used at the Agency to develop policy, with feedback on the postings used to develop the Agency's thinking on a range of scientific issues.
Dr Wadge will update the blog as often as possible, using it to let people know what he and his scientist colleagues at FSA are up to, what the emerging issues are, and how the Agency proposes to handle them.
He said: "It's vital that we share our thinking about science, and I want the blog to be a forum where people feel they can comment, question and discuss the science behind the issues of the day."
The blog is designed to complement other channels of engagement used by the Agency to demonstrate its core values of openness, being an independent voice, and putting consumers first. These include open Board meetings, stakeholder forums, and regular updates to its newly-redesigned website food.gov.uk
